- 1 cup (227g) unsalted butter
- 2 1/4 cups (450g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 cups (400g) granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup (95g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- 1 cup (120g) flour-dusted chocolate shavings (for fur texture)
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder (for dusting)
- Edible gold flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- Melt butter and chocolate chips together in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth. Cool slightly.
- Whisk in sugar, then eggs one at a time, followed by vanilla.
- Sift in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Whisk until just combined.
- Pour batter into pan. Sprinkle evenly with chocolate shavings, pressing gently.
- Bake for 25–28 minutes. Cool completely.
- Sift cocoa powder over top, then lightly mist with edible gold flakes.
- Cut into squares and serve.
Notes
- For extra ‘fur,’ press extra chocolate shavings after baking while still warm.
- Use high-quality chocolate for richest flavor.
- Store in airtight container at room temp up to 5 days, or freeze up to 2 months.
