- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp activated charcoal powder
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ΒΌ tsp salt
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 1 tsp espresso powder (dissolved in 1 tsp hot water)
Instructions
- Preheat waffle iron and lightly grease.
- Whisk flour, charcoal powder, baking powder, salt, and sugar in a bowl.
- In another bowl, whisk together milk, egg, melted butter, and espresso mixture.
- Pour wet ingredients into dry; mix until just combined (do not overmix).
- Pour ΒΎ cup batter into waffle iron; cook 4β5 minutes until dark and crisp.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, and crushed peanuts.
Notes
- Activated charcoal may stain lightly β use black or dark boards for best presentation.
- For a vegan version, use almond milk, flax egg, and coconut oil.
- Espresso adds depth but can be omitted β flavor will be milder.
