Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons butter
Instructions
- In a saucepan, pour in the milk and heat it over medium heat until it’s warm but not boiling.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and salt until well combined.
- Gradually whisk the dry ingredients into the warm milk, ensuring there are no clumps. Continue whisking constantly over medium heat until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and butter until melted and combined. Pour into serving dishes and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to set.
Notes
- Use high-quality cocoa powder for the best flavor.
- Whisk constantly while cooking to prevent lumps from forming.
- Don’t let the milk boil to avoid scalding.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the pudding to set properly.
