Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water (110°F/45°C)
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Minced garlic (2 cloves)
- Fresh herbs (such as parsley or oregano)
- Optional: Red pepper flakes for spice
Instructions
- In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add the activated yeast mixture, melted butter, and knead until a soft dough forms.
- Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a bundt pan or a deep baking dish.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide into small balls (about 20-25 pieces).
- In a bowl, mix shredded mozzarella, Parmesan, minced garlic, herbs, and optional red pepper flakes.
- Flatten each dough ball slightly, placing a spoonful of cheese mixture in the center, then fold and seal.
- Place the dough balls into the prepared pan, layering and packing tightly to create a “puppet” effect.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove from oven and let cool slightly. Optionally, brush with garlic butter for extra flavor.
- Serve warm, pulling apart the bread pieces to enjoy the cheesy goodness!
Notes
- Ensure the yeast is fresh for proper rising.
- You can customize the cheese blend or add spicy seasonings for extra flavor.
- For a gluten-free version, substitute with a gluten-free bread dough.
