Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add the activated yeast mixture, melted butter, and knead until a soft dough forms.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a bundt pan or a deep baking dish.
  5. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide into small balls (about 20-25 pieces).
  6. In a bowl, mix shredded mozzarella, Parmesan, minced garlic, herbs, and optional red pepper flakes.
  7. Flatten each dough ball slightly, placing a spoonful of cheese mixture in the center, then fold and seal.
  8. Place the dough balls into the prepared pan, layering and packing tightly to create a “puppet” effect.
