Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
- For the glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2-3 tablespoons brewed coffee (additional)
- Optional: chocolate chips, sprinkles, or cinnamon sugar for topping
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan or line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, combine the eggs, vanilla extract, melted butter, milk, and cooled brewed coffee. Mix well.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Pour the batter into a piping bag or zip-top bag with the tip cut off, then fill each donut cavity about ¾ full.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the donuts comes out clean.
Making the Coffee Glaze
- In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and brewed coffee until smooth.
- Adjust the consistency by adding more coffee or powdered sugar as needed.
- Once the donuts are cooled, dip the tops into the glaze and let set. Add toppings like sprinkles or cinnamon sugar for extra flavor.
Notes
- Ensure the coffee is cooled before adding to the batter to prevent cooking the eggs.
- Use a piping bag for cleaner donut shaping.
- Customize toppings with chocolate chips, sprinkles, or cinnamon sugar for extra flavor.
