Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box of chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients called for on the box)
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1 cup fresh blueberries
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- Optional: Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for serving
Instructions
- Prepare the chocolate cake batter according to the instructions on the box. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a small saucepan, combine the melted butter, sugar, and water. Cook over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the mixture simmers.
- Pour the butter-sugar mixture evenly into the bottom of your cake pan. Arrange the sliced strawberries and blueberries in a decorative pattern over it.
- Gently pour the chocolate cake batter over the fruit layer, spreading it evenly.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then invert it onto a serving plate.
- Serve warm, optionally topped with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
Notes
- Use fresh, high-quality fruits for the best flavor.
- Avoid overbaking to keep the cake moist.
- Let cool slightly before inverting to prevent sticking.
- Line the cake pan with parchment paper for easier cleanup.
