Inspired by the iconic TV series, this chili embodies warmth, spice, and hearty satisfaction—qualities any hunter would appreciate after a long day battling supernatural forces. A robust dish combining ground beef, savory spices, and a rich tomato base, perfect for chilly evenings and game nights.

  • Total Time: 1 hour 20 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 bell peppers (1 red, 1 green), chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (15 oz) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 (15 oz) can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp cumin
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, cilantro, green onions

Instructions

  1. Heat a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and bell peppers and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until tender. Then, add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  2. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart until fully browned. Drain excess grease.
  3. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, kidney beans, black beans, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, oregano, salt, and pepper. Pour in beef broth and mix well.
  4. Bring the chili to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for at least 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Serve hot with your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • Use high-quality ingredients for the best flavor.
  • Adjust the spice level by modifying cayenne pepper.
  • Allow the chili to simmer longer for richer flavor.
  • Add a tablespoon of cocoa powder for a deeper taste.
  • Experiment with toppings for variety.
