- 2 lbs ground beef
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 bell peppers (1 red, 1 green), chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
- 1 (15 oz) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 (15 oz) can black beans, drained and rinsed
- 2 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tbsp cumin
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
- 1 tsp oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups beef broth
- Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, cilantro, green onions
Instructions
- Heat a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and bell peppers and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until tender. Then, add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
- Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart until fully browned. Drain excess grease.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, kidney beans, black beans, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, oregano, salt, and pepper. Pour in beef broth and mix well.
- Bring the chili to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for at least 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Serve hot with your favorite toppings.
