Instructions

  1. Prepare the Fish: Dredge each cod fillet in 1/2 cup of flour and shake off excess.
  2. Make the Batter and Fry the Fish: Whisk remaining flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Gradually add beer until smooth. Heat oil to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and fry fish for 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
  3. Prepare and Fry the Chips: Rinse potato fries and pat dry. Fry them in hot oil at 325ยฐF (160ยฐC) for 5-7 minutes, then increase temperature to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC) and fry for 2-3 minutes until crispy.
  4. Serve: Arrange crispy fish and chips on a platter, garnish with lemon wedges, and serve with tartar sauce.
