Ingredients
Scale
- 1 packet (0.25 oz) unflavored gelatin
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 1/2 cup cold water
- 1 cup regular sugar (or 3/4 cup for less sweetness)
- 1/2 tsp green food coloring (to vibrant emerald tone)
- Fractionated coconut oil or non-stick spray for mold
- Red gel food coloring for ‘blood’ drips (optional)
Instructions
- Lightly grease a silicone cube tray or small mold with coconut oil — set aside.
- In a medium bowl, sprinkle unflavored gelatin over cold water. Let bloom 5 minutes.
- Meanwhile, heat lemon juice and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat just until sugar dissolves (do not boil).
- Add boiling water to the bloomed gelatin and whisk until fully dissolved.
- Stir in cold sugar mixture and food coloring until uniform bright green.
- Pour carefully into molds and chill for 2+ hours until fully set.
- For the ‘Bonus™’ effect: Mix a few drops of red gel with 1 tsp warm water; drizzle over set Jello cubes.
Notes
- For an allergy-friendly version: Use agar-agar (2 tsp) instead of gelatin; simmer 5 mins before setting.
- Parents: This is 100% kid-safe & non-alcoholic!
- For inert vibes, replace red drips with crushed freeze-dried raspberry.
