Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until creamy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract; blend well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until combined.
- Divide the dough into two halves for easy handling. If desired, knead in green or brown food coloring for a themed look.
- Roll the dough into 1/4 inch thick balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Gently press your thumb or a dinosaur footprint mold into each cookie to create the footprint impression.
- Decorate footprints with chocolate chips or candies or add details using icing for extra fun.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are golden brown.
- Allow cookies to cool on a wire rack before serving.
Notes
- For more realistic footprints, use a dinosaur footprint mold or press your thumb firmly into the dough.
- If you want to customize the colors, add food coloring to the dough before shaping.
