Ingredients
Scale
- 500g white fish fillets (cod, haddock, or pollock)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup bread crumbs (panko for extra crispiness)
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil or vegetable oil for frying
- Optional: fresh herbs like parsley or thyme for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the fish by removing skin and bones. Cut into 3-4 inch strips, about 1 inch wide.
- Set up breading stations: one with seasoned flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with bread crumbs mixed with garlic powder.
- Dip each fish strip into flour, then into eggs, and finally coat with bread crumbs.
- Heat oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 180°C (350°F).
- Fry the coated fish sticks in batches for 3-4 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
- Alternatively, bake at 200°C (390°F) for 15-20 minutes, turning halfway, until crispy.
Notes
- For healthier options, baking is recommended instead of frying.
- Ensure oil temperature is correct to prevent soggy fish sticks.
- Use fresh herbs for garnish to enhance flavor and presentation.
