Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add vanilla extract and optional almond extract, mixing well.
- Gradually incorporate the flour until the dough comes together.
- Divide dough into two disks, shape into wraps, chill for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Roll out dough on a floured surface to ¼ inch thickness.
- Cut out cookies using a tree or circle-shaped cookie cutter.
- Bake on a lined sheet for 10–12 minutes until edges are golden.
- Cool completely on a wire rack.
- Decorate with royal icing to draw the White Tree symbol.
- Add metallic gold or silver dust for a regal finish.
- Incorporate green food coloring into the icing for detailed leaves if desired.
