Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 2 tbsp smoked paprika
- 1 tbsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, oregano, cumin, salt, and black pepper to create the spice mix.
- Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels, then rub them generously with the spice mixture on all sides.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat until hot.
- Place the chicken breasts in the pan and cook for about 6-8 minutes per side, or until fully cooked and beautifully charred.
- Once cooked, squeeze fresh lemon juice over the chicken to add brightness and balance to the smoky flavors.
- Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving to retain the juices.
Notes
- Adjust the level of spiciness by increasing or reducing cayenne pepper and hot sauce.
- Marinate the chicken for extra flavor if desired, up to 2 hours in the refrigerator.
- For oven cooking, bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes or until cooked through and slightly charred on top.
