- 2 cups of organic spelt flour (for authenticity and better nutrition)
- 1 cup of coconut sugar or raw honey
- 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt
- 1/4 cup of almond oil or melted coconut oil
- 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 2-3 tablespoons of ground chia seeds (for binding and texture)
- Optional: dried herbs such as rosemary or thyme for added aroma
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mix 2 cups of spelt flour, sea salt, and vanilla extract.
- Add almond oil and honey or coconut sugar to dry ingredients, mixing well.
- Stir in ground chia seeds and add water gradually until a dough forms that’s soft but not sticky.
- Knead gently until smooth, then shape into a flat circle or rectangle about 1/2 inch thick.
- Cut into rectangular or oval pieces resembling traditional Elven bread.
- Place pieces on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove from oven and cool before serving or storing.
Notes
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
- Refrigerate for up to a week or freeze for longer storage.
- Wrap each piece in parchment or foil to keep fresh.
