- 1 pound ground sausage
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 package puff pastry (2 sheets), thawed
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: garlic powder or additional spices as desired
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground sausage, dried basil, oregano, finely chopped onion, and fresh parsley. Season with salt and pepper, and mix well.
- Roll out the puff pastry sheets and cut into 4×10 inch rectangles. Place the sausage mixture in the center of each rectangle and seal the edges.
- Transfer the rolls onto a parchment-lined baking tray, brushing the tops with a beaten egg.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
Notes
- Leftover sausage rolls can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days or frozen for longer storage.
- Serve with mustard or honey as a dipping sauce for added flavor.
- For a healthier option, substitute ground sausage with ground turkey, chicken, or plant-based sausage.
