Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon dry yeast
- 1/2 cup milk (warm)
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Oil for frying
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk (for icing)
- Colorful sprinkles
Instructions
- Activate the yeast by mixing warm milk and sugar in a small bowl for 5 minutes until foamy.
- In a large bowl, combine flour and salt, then add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and eggs. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth and elastic, about 5-7 minutes, then let it rise in a greased bowl for 1 hour.
- Roll out the dough to half an inch thick and cut into donut shapes. Rest the shapes for 15-20 minutes.
- Heat oil to 350°F. Fry donuts until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes per side, then cool on paper towels.
- Mix powdered sugar and milk for icing, dip cooled donuts in icing, and top with colorful sprinkles.
Notes
- Store donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for 2-3 days, or freeze without icing for longer storage.
- For a lighter version, bake donuts at 375°F for 10-12 minutes.
- Use any type of colorful sprinkles to match your theme or preference.
- Drain donuts well after frying to avoid sogginess, and store them in a cool, dry place.
