Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs ground beef
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup ketchup (plus extra for glazing)
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, ketchup, chopped onion, milk, eggs, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper, mixing thoroughly.
- Transfer the meat mixture onto a parchment-lined baking tray and shape it into a loaf.
- Spread a layer of ketchup over the top of the meatloaf for glazing.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour or until a meat thermometer reads 160°F (70°C). Let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
Notes
- If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
- You can freeze slices of the meatloaf for up to three months; wrap them tightly to preserve flavor and texture.
- For a lighter version, substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken.
- Finely chopped vegetables like bell peppers or grated zucchini can be added for extra texture and flavor.
- Experiment with adding Worcestershire sauce or a mix of barbecue sauce and ketchup for enhanced taste.
