Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until creamy and fluffy. Add the honey and continue to beat until well combined.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next. Mix in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients, mixing gently after each addition.
- If desired, fold in crushed nuts or dried fruits for extra texture and flavor.
- Pour the batter into your prepared cake pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- In a small saucepan, warm 1/4 cup honey with 2 tablespoons of water over low heat.
- Once the cake is completely cooled, brush the honey glaze generously over the top and sides.
- Let the glaze set for about 20 minutes before serving.
