Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large russet potatoes, cleaned and sliced into fries
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Additional seasoning blends (such as restaurant-style seasoning) for extra flavor
Instructions
- Wash and peel the potatoes. Cut them into evenly sized fries to ensure uniform cooking.
- Soak the cut fries in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch, which helps achieve extra crispy fries.
- Drain the fries and pat dry thoroughly with a clean towel.
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) or heat your oil for frying to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, toss the fries with olive oil once and then sprinkle with smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Ensure all fries are evenly coated.
- For oven-baked fries: Arrange on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy.
- For fried fries: Carefully add to hot oil in batches, frying until crispy and golden, about 3-4 minutes per batch. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
Notes
- For extra flavor, sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
- If you prefer spicy fries, increase cayenne pepper to taste.
- Adjust cooking time based on fry thickness for best crispiness.
