- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1β2 teaspoons activated charcoal powder (adjust for depth of black)
- 3 cups cold filtered water
- Ice cubes
- Lemon slices and edible black sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine sugar and water. Heat over mediumuntil sugar dissolves, then cool to room temperature to make simple syrup.
- In a large pitcher, whisk together lemon juice, simple syrup, and cold filtered water.
- Divide mixture into two bowls. To one half, gently stir in activated charcoal powder until fully dissolved and uniformly black.
- Combine black and clear lemonades in the pitcher and stir lightly to create a subtle gradient effect or leave layered for drama.
- Serve over ice, garnished with lemon slices and black sesame seeds.
Notes
- Activated charcoal may stainβuse care with teeth and clothing. Not recommended for daily consumption.
- For a vegan version, substitute honey for agave in the simple syrup.
- To rim glasses, brush edges with lemon juice, then dip in a mix of sugar and activated charcoal.
