Ingredients
- 8 oz (225 g) high-quality dark chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) heavy cream
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- Optional: black sea salt or edible gold flakes for garnish
Instructions
- Melt the chocolate: Use a double boiler or microwave in short bursts to melt the chopped chocolate until smooth.
- Heat the cream: Warm the heavy cream in a small saucepan until it just begins to simmer, then pour over the melted chocolate and stir until combined.
- Add butter and vanilla: Mix in the softened butter and vanilla extract for richness.
- Chill the mixture: Transfer the ganache to a bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until firm enough to scoop.
- Shape the truffles: Using a melon baller or teaspoon, scoop out small portions and roll into smooth balls.
- Coat the truffles: Roll each ball in cocoa powder or edible gold flakes for a luxe finish.
- Store and serve: Place on a parchment-lined tray and refrigerate until serving.
Notes
- For an extra luxurious look, sprinkle with edible gold flakes before serving.
- If the mixture becomes too firm to scoop, let it sit at room temperature for 5 minutes.
