Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups of cold water or clear fruit juice (for a sweeter flavor)
- 3 packets of unflavored gelatin (about 7.5 teaspoons)
- 1 cup of sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract (optional, for added flavor)
- Food coloring (optional, for subtle hints)
- Clear plastic or glass molds
Instructions
- Prepare the gelatin mixture: In a mixing bowl, sprinkle the unflavored gelatin over 1 cup of cold water or juice. Let it sit for 5 minutes until bloomed.
- Heat the liquid: In a saucepan, bring 2 cups of water or juice to a gentle boil. Remove from heat and stir in sugar until fully dissolved.
- Combine gelatin and heated liquid: Pour the hot mixture into the bloomed gelatin, stirring constantly until fully dissolved. Add vanilla extract and optional food coloring for a subtle tint.
- Pour into molds: Carefully pour the mixture into transparent molds. Use a spatula to smooth the surface if needed.
- Chill until set: Place the molds in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or overnight until firm and clear.
- Unmold and serve: Gently loosen the edges with a knife if necessary. Invert onto a plate and enjoy the stunning transparent jelly resembling the invisible jet!
Notes
- Use high-quality unflavored gelatin for maximum clarity.
- For a more vibrant effect, consider using high-quality food coloring or natural fruit juices.
- Chill the jello thoroughly for a firm, translucent texture.
- To unmold easily, briefly dip molds in warm water before inverting.
