- 1/2 cup milk
- 4 tbsp butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Food coloring (red, blue, yellow, green)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced (optional)
Instructions
- Peel and cube the potatoes and place them in a large pot covered with cold water.
- Add a pinch of salt and bring to a boil. Cook until fork-tender (about 15-20 minutes).
- Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot or a mixing bowl.
- Mash the potatoes with milk, butter, salt, and pepper until creamy. Optionally, add minced garlic.
- Divide into bowls and add food coloring, gently swirling for a marbled effect.
Notes
- Use high-starch Russet potatoes for best results.
- Warm milk and butter before mixing for smoother incorporation.
- Avoid overmixing to keep potatoes fluffy.
- Add herbs, spices, or cheese for additional flavor variations.
