Instructions
- Prepare the dough: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy using a mixer. Add the egg and vanilla extract; mix well. Gradually combine the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until a dough forms.
- Divide and color the dough: Divide the dough into four equal portions. Tint each portion with a different food coloring gel to achieve vibrant colors similar to Mystique’s hue. Knead each portion until the color is evenly distributed.
- Chill the dough: Wrap each colored dough portion in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to make it easier to roll and work with.
- Create the swirl: Roll each colored dough into a flat rectangle. Place one color over another, shaping layers into a rectangular stack. Carefully roll the stacked dough into a tight log, then slice into cookies about 1/4 inch thick.
- Bake the cookies: Arrange the slices on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10-12 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden. Let cool on a wire rack.
