Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt; bring to a boil.
- Remove from heat and stir in flour until a smooth dough forms.
- Cool 5 minutes, then beat in eggs one at a time until dough is glossy.
- Stir in vanilla and orange zest.
- Pipe 4-6 inch strands into hot oil and fry until golden and crisp.
- Roll in cinnamon-sugar mixture while still warm; drizzle with melted chocolate if desired.
- Serve warm and enjoy.
Notes
- Maintain oil temperature around 350°F (175°C) for best crispness.
- For baking instead of frying, bake on a parchment-lined sheet at 425°F for 10-12 minutes, flipping once.
- To adjust sweetness, reduce or increase coating sugar to taste.
