Ingredients
Scale
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup warm milk (110°F)
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 large egg
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp butter, melted (for filling)
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp orange juice (for glaze)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Warm the milk to 110°F and whisk in yeast and 1 tablespoon of sugar; let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, remaining sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, egg, vanilla, and melted butter. Mix, then knead 6–8 minutes until smooth.
- Cover and let rise 60–75 minutes, or until doubled in size.
- Roll dough into a rectangle. Mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter; spread over dough and roll into a log. Slice into 12 equal pieces.
- Place buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment. Cover and let rise 25–30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F. Bake 12–15 minutes until golden. Prepare glaze by whisking powdered sugar with enough orange juice to pourable consistency.
- Brush warm buns with glaze and serve.
Notes
- For a deeper color, add a pinch of pumpkin spice to the filling.
- Make dough ahead and refrigerate overnight for a no-rise version the next day.
- If you prefer a dairy-free option, use almond milk and coconut oil in place of butter.
