Soft, fluffy buns with a cinnamon swirl and a bright orange glaze, inspired by Halloween magic and movie night vibes.

  • Total Time: 2 hrs 30 mins
  • Yield: 12 buns

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp butter, melted (for filling)
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tbsp orange juice (for glaze)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Warm the milk to 110°F and whisk in yeast and 1 tablespoon of sugar; let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, remaining sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, egg, vanilla, and melted butter. Mix, then knead 6–8 minutes until smooth.
  3. Cover and let rise 60–75 minutes, or until doubled in size.
  4. Roll dough into a rectangle. Mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter; spread over dough and roll into a log. Slice into 12 equal pieces.
  5. Place buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment. Cover and let rise 25–30 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F. Bake 12–15 minutes until golden. Prepare glaze by whisking powdered sugar with enough orange juice to pourable consistency.
  7. Brush warm buns with glaze and serve.

Notes

  • For a deeper color, add a pinch of pumpkin spice to the filling.
  • Make dough ahead and refrigerate overnight for a no-rise version the next day.
  • If you prefer a dairy-free option, use almond milk and coconut oil in place of butter.
