- 2/3 cup baking soda
- Coarse sea salt, for topping
- Butter, for brushing
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar; let sit 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add flour, salt, and melted butter; knead until smooth.
- Let dough rise until doubled, about 60 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Bring 8 cups water to a boil with baking soda.
- Shape dough into Mickey Mouse head and ears shapes, place on parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Boil pretzels 30 seconds, then transfer to baking sheet; brush with melted butter and sprinkle with coarse salt.
- Bake 12-14 minutes until golden brown. Let cool briefly before serving.
Notes
- To create Mickey shapes, pull dough into a large circle for the head and two smaller circles for the ears; connect with a light pinch.
- For a chewier crust, use bread flour.
- Best eaten fresh the day they bake.
