- 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
- 6 tablespoons (85 g) unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) heavy cream
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Parchment paper, for lining
Instructions
- Line a 9×13 inch sheet pan with parchment paper.
- Melt butter in a heavy saucepan over medium heat; add sugar and cook until melted and amber in color, about 8-10 minutes.
- Carefully whisk in cream and vanilla; simmer until smooth and thickened, 2-3 minutes.
- Pour onto the prepared pan and sprinkle with salt; smooth the surface.
- Cool completely, then break into pieces.
Notes
- Use parchment paper and a greased pan for easy removal.
- Watch sugar closely to avoid burning; caramel turns quickly from amber to burnt.
- Store in an airtight container up to 1 week.
