- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- Pinch cloves
- 1 tablespoon milk or cream (optional for filling)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix flour and salt; cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Drizzle in cold water and mix until dough comes together; wrap and chill 30 minutes.
- For filling, combine pumpkin puree, brown sugar and spices.
- Roll dough, cut circles, place filling, fold into pasties, and seal edges.
- Brush with beaten egg wash and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20–25 minutes until golden.
Notes
- Keep dough cold for flakiness by chilling 30 minutes before rolling.
- Roll dough to about 1/8 inch thickness and cut into even circles.
- Seal edges well to prevent filling leakage; brush with egg wash for shine.
- Store baked pasties in an airtight container for up to 2 days; freeze unbaked for longer storage.
