Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F (175C). Line a 12-cup muffin tin.
  2. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. In another bowl, beat butter and sugars until light and creamy. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla.
  3. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk, mixing until just combined. Fold in lavender if using. Add a few drops of purple gel coloring as desired.
  4. Fill cups 2/3 full and bake 18-20 minutes. Cool completely before frosting.
  5. Beat frosting ingredients until smooth. Pipe lavender frosting on cupcakes. Decorate with edible stars and glitter to resemble a sleeping draught.
